Here are the steps to exchange links
1· Search the web for a simple script for open website directory (Link directory). You can use your website creator or editor to do this. Name that page as “Links” as your title page. If you have a self hosted Word Press blog , I recommend you get the Word Press Link Directory plugin. It is easy to install. Here is the instruction.
2- Go to www.Google.com and click “More” and type the keyword that is related to your blog or site. Make sure you review their site, check their page rank, and they are complement to your blog or site. Then compose an email (see the sample below) that describes a little about yourself, your website and what you do. Let the other website owner know that you visited your website, and find it fit the quality link. State that you place the link and description of their site at a specific page and encourage them to double check.
3- Save the email in a folder that you can use it again in the future. This way you do not have to retype the email letter each time you would like to exchange links with another website.
4- Visit websites that you are interested in, and contact the webmaster. Find the email address that belongs to the webmaster and insert it into the “to” field of the email. Send the email. You can try this software, “Link Assistant”. Down load the SEO-PowerSuite here (It consists of Rank Tracker, WebSite Auditor, SEO Spyglass, and LinkAssistant). The free version is fine. This piece of software, LinkAssistant, can generate correspondence email, but the some of the sites may not be complement to your site.
5- Wait for a response. Once you have received an OK from the webmaster, put their link on your your website links page and include their site description and title. Ask the webmaster to return the favor to you by placing a link to your website on their links page. Send a thank you note to the webmaster, and make sure to keep in touch with them every so often to see if any contact or url information needs to be updated.
Note: Some website they use the automation. They have the page called “Add link” page for you to enter your website information including the title, description, and location of reciprocal link to your site, your name, and email address. After hitting the “Add” button, it checks and sends you a auto confirmation of adding your link to their site.
