Any where you go in this planet. You will find the competition. It could be a tough one or easy one depending on how you look at it. The competition could be good or bad for you depending on the niche you are getting into. There is always upsides and downsides no matter what it is you are looking at. Check my analysis below for more details.
Good Competition: If there is a big market and big demand in your niche, the competition is good for you. You expect to get a small piece of the pie, but not whole big chunk of it. I said it because if you are a late comer into the niche, you have to work hard to build relationships with your visitors that later on you turn them into your customers. With a good product, good marketing strategy, good sales page, good testimonials, you can stand a chance to make some money. Only the time will tell because you need to boost traffic to your blog. You may have to buy traffic or free traffic.
It could be good if you are a small fish in a big pond along with other big fishes. Make sure the demand is high enough for you and other fishes. You have to do keyword research to make sure there are plenty of search monthly. Let say 100K per month. Or just say hot niche.
Bad competition: If you do not study the market or did not do your homework properly, this competition may throw you off the curve. You won’t make any money at all. You must know which keyword you rank on Google page rank. If you rank on page one and position number 10, and there are 9 sites on top of you. They have been in this market long then you. Their site age is more than 9 years. On top of that , they have page rankings 3 or better. I believe this is not the niche for you to get into.
Now you are a small fish in a small pond along with other bigger fishes. Your chance of making money is very slim to none even though there is a hot demand in that market unless you throw a lot of money for blog promotion and advertisement.
So it is better to spy your competition before getting into a niche. There are plenty of tools, such as Market samurai, you can use to do research before jumping in with both feet. Do not waste time and energy if you think it is too tough for you to compete.

There are a lot of new blogs created every single day. Some of them are there to small amount of money. You may find there places where you can sell the domains too. There are all kinds of blog niches that you can imagine. The question is, “Is blogging right for you?”
I have a few suggestions before you join the ban wagon of blogging network.
Passion: Here is the most important point you must have in order to be a successful blogger in any niche. You must have a passion on writing what you know first until you make some money; then you can hire someone to write it for you. That is the ultimate goal__outsourcing.
Delay gratification: You can not expect to make money right away. It is taking time to build your blog, such as doing keyword research, selecting domain name, doing blog promotion etc… There are a lot more work to be done. I am not here to discourage you at all. I want to let you know what lies ahead if you decided to become a blogger.
Willingness to learn: Step out of your comfort zone and willing to learn the necessary skills to become a better blogger. You need to learn the aspect of the technical and sales and marketing that related to promotion and the running the blogging daily operation. Take time and be patient are the key to master the learning of new skills. Continue learning about blogging through forum participation or reading blogs through RSS feeds.
Learn all about technical stuff. It could be about the setup of a WordPress blog or about writing sales copy. If you set your mind to it, you can do anything.
Positive thinking: This is the last tip I have. It is important to have a positive thinking—You can do it. You know that if you change your thought, you can change your life. It will energize you mental as well as your physical strength. Keep taking actions until you reach your goal!

You may realize that there are many many ways to make money with your blog, but the first and fore most, you must have a passion on writing. You may ask “Why?”. You know the blog originally derives from a diaries of whatever subject you want to record. And it is an abbreviation of web and log. It also has to do with the visitors that are mostly search for information that solve their problem. If you are an expert on a particular subject, you have a lot of things to talk about and there are people who would visit your site for your advice and opinion. That is one ingredient you must have before you make money off your blog. It is web traffic. Anyway, there are my suggestions that you can use to make money with your blog.
Google Adsense: This method is not going to bring you a ton of money overnight, but a couple cents per click. It depends on the value of keyword that a visitor clicks it. The amount you are going to get is calculated by Google. The conversion rate is about 1% of traffic you have. In order to get pay by Google, you have to have an Google adsense account. If you do not have one, open one today. This method is easy to do, but the pay is not much.
Another good idea is to own many blogs that make $1 per day from adsense. With your time and effort, you can make $100 per day by building 100 blogs that make that much money. It is doable.
Paid reviews: There are a lot of site for you as a blogger to review a product or service and get pay. Some sites, such as Payperpost.com, pay you to write an article related to a subject. Here are some of them,
www.payperpost.com
www.reviewme.com
www.sponsoredreviews.com
www.socialspark.com
Note: You have to sign up first before you get started.
Text-link-Ads: When your blog is page ranking 1 or above, you may want to apply for account with Text-link-Ads. It is an ad network that advertisers buy text links within the content of your posts. You must meet their criteria before they accept you. If they do not, do not be disappointed. Try to make your blog meet their requirements and try to apply for the account in the future.

Probably you were in the same boat when I started a blog. As a new blogger, you never realize that you need to know anything about sales technique at all. What you need to know just the niche you are getting into and know about the subject you blog very well. You are the expert already in the field. Why do you need to know about sales techniques?
Let step back a little bit and talk about when you get started a blog. At that time you should have a goal or a purpose in mind what you wanted to do with your blog. You might have the goal of providing valuable information or service to your readers . Sooner or later you would want to monetize your blog. That is where you have to know a few sales techniques.
Like Nick, the owner of Nickstraffictricks.com, mentioned that it is a waste of time sending traffic to sale page. There is not much result in terms of conversion rate (0.1%). The other 99% is a waste. This big portion goes into the drain. What he is saying was it is better to build a relationship with your visitors first and turn your visitors into your customers at a later time.
In order to do that you have to provide valuable content and free gift that may entice your visitors to come and take a look at what you have to offer. If you provide a good service to them, they would give you their name and email address for an exchange for a free gift. From there you can use email marketing to advertise your product. To have a successful email marketing, you must have a valuable free gift first. Every body love free gift. Otherwise, the visitors may think you are not provide them a good service and they would not order your product. You got to establish a relationship and trust. In my opinion, if you have those two points, you will have a very successful internet marketing.
In my opinion, bloggers need to know some sales techniques to sell their products. Those are very important to make business go smoothly. So at least you need to know how to write a sales page or have someone written it for you. It is a page that entice people to buy your products or service.

Imagine that you own a forum that you built from scratch. It is getting popular because you provide a service that the members would love to come and participate and discuss related issues and learn a few things that they really want to know. Little by little your forum comes to a point where you realize that it is now page ranking (PR) 6. You wonder what you would do about it. Here are 4 tips I would suggest along with some of my opinion.
Selling some links: You can sell links to other people including your site members. I have seen people selling with PR 5 site for just $125 per link which will be on the sidebar. You could probably sell each of your link around $150/year or more. Visit Digital Point forum to get a feel of how much your link worth.
With Text-Link-Ads, you are still going to make a good amount of money. If some of your other site pages may be of a high PR, look into selling links on those pages too. I would also reserve maybe a footer link or two for the users. Another good idea is to make a contest where the member with the largest amount of monthly posts will get the link space.
Direct Ads: You can search a bigger website/company, and ask them if they would like to be your site’s sponsor for a period of time. You have to search for the company in the same industry related to your forum and talk to them about having their ads on your site, just to display what their company name, but not about selling their products. They can set the price of the ads. You make more money than the contextual ads. So finding some advertisers should not be a problem.
Displaying affiliate links: Again you must select the affiliate products that are related to your niche. That way it is easier to monetize the affiliate links after you sign up with affiliate marketing services such Amazon, Commission Junction, Click Share, etc…. And you also need to have good keywords that they are looking for in order to have a good click through rate (CTR).
Contextual Ads: This is the easy one to make money after you have a forum with PR 6. It is where the Google adsense comes to play, but remember that you would not make much money as the direct ads or selling links. Google pays you a few cents per click. In my opinion, the revenue from this type of ads is unpredictable. It can go up or down depending upon the traffic, the niche, and the ads.

Imagine what you hope your domain would do for you. It could bring your business to the next level if you have done your keyword research correctly. It could take lesser time to be in the top 5 of Google page rank or even better. It could save you your frustration. Here I talk about free tools you can start with. If you have money to spend, you can use Market Samarai or Keyword Elite. My keyword research suggestion tools are following:
SEO for Firefox extension/Keyword Spy add-ons for Firefox: Before you install the SEO for Firefox, make sure you have Firefox browser installed. Then go to Google and type in the search for SEO for Firefox extension. For more information about searching and installation this extension watch the Youtube below.
The alternative to SEO for Firefox extension is the Keyword Spy tool. It has a similar feature to SEO for Firefox. However, this provides a better function. You do not need to hit, “?” every time. It already shows you the PR of every site on Google result.
Google Adwords Keyword tool: Go to Google and check the niche market of your keyword phrase that you are planning to get into. Look around the players in that niche.
Here is how to set up the search for keyword phrase. Click to show, “Estimated avg CPC”, hide the “Local Search volume” , and “Advertiser competition” column and the “Match type” is set to “Exact”. Click the “Global Monthly search volume” to have it arranged in descent order from bigger to smaller result.
Export your result to Excel spreadsheet by clicking “CSV for Excel” button. You can shorten “Global monthly search volume” column to just “Volume” , and the “Estimated Avg CPC” to just “CPC” column if you like. Add another column called, “Potential” column. Here is the formula for that column, =B2*0.25*C2*0.4*0.05. The reason you multiply the column “B” with 0.25 is the estimate how much you will get paid by Google adsense if someone clicks the keyword. And the column “C” is multiplied by 0.4 is the estimate of traffic you are going to get to your site because you have to compete for visitors. The 0.05 is the estimate of how many people would actually click that keyword out of the a number of a large traffic. The Excel spread sheet should look like this.
Now go back to Google search. Turn you SEO for Firefox extension ON. Click the refresh tap on the top browser or hit the “Search” button. Click the “?” following the “PR” of each site on the first page of Google. If you get PR5 or higher on the top 5, do not think about into that niche market. It is tough to compete with the site with PR5. Do not waste your time and money. Try to look for other niches. Also if the “potential” column is less than $50, do not go further.
Potential Domain: If you find that the first 5 results are PR4 or lower, go to Domain tool site and see if the domain name you want is still available. if not try to add the online, blog, review, info to the domain name you intended to have. Try to get the top level domain (TLD) name as dot com or dot net.

Imagine you have a website or blog that generates thousands of dollars every month. It is great, do you think not? You would not have to do anything, but relax and enjoy the passive income. Well, it could happen to you If you follow my 6 possible ways to make money with your website or blog. A good amount of traffic is a must have before you apply them into practice.
Here are the 6 ways to make money with your website or blog
1. Donation
In order to have a donation work properly, first you have to provide a rich content on your blog or website, no bluff. When they see your great content and benefits of it, they are more than willing to donate some money to you. It is similar to “Give and Take” scenario. Here is a great example. If you write an article and want to submit it to EzineArticles, you have to give the benefits of your article to readers first before you can ask them to buy your product or to do something.
After that, you setup a wish list account with Amazon; then ask your readers to buy you any items from the wish list. It could range from a couple dollars to hundreds of dollars. One last thing, you may want to set up a Paypal account so it is convenient for you as well as your readers.
2. Subscription
It is about the membership site where you provide a continue great valuable benefits to members every month otherwise they would not stay there for a long. You have to put your reputation on the line as an authority or expert in the particular niche or subject in order to do this kind of membership site. You can charge ranging from 14.99 to hundreds of dollars per month. Remember what is in store for them to make them stay and follow you. And proper planning and scheduling of your membership site could be the main key to make money with subscription site. It is a recursive income!
3. Contextual ads
This is the easy one to make money after you have a great traffic to your blog or site. You can begin with Google Adsense which is easy to do once you open an account with Google Adsense and follow all the instructions and place the ad on your blog or site. For more detail on how to use it, click here. The down side is it lacks editorial control. Google may place whatever ads that they want and it may be a competitor’s ads of yours if you have your product to sell. Another interest point is the “One click gone effect”. As the name implies, the readers click the ads once and never come back again because they got what they are looking for. There is no way to have a repeat clicker!
4. Affiliate marketing
For this one, you need to sign up with affiliate marketing services such Amazon, Commission Junction, Click Share, etc….The way it works is you drive the readers or your potential customers to your merchants’ sales page that persuade them to buy the product. If they do, you get a commission from the merchants. It ranges from 3% to 75% commission. You can write articles to drive traffic to your merchants’ website. You also need to have good keywords that they are looking for in order to have a good click through rate (CTR).
5. Direct Ads
The direct ads works for those that have a higher authority in a particular subject. Once you are very popular in that industry, you will have the advertiser in the same industry call you and talk about having their ads on your site, just to display what their company name, but not about selling their products. They can set the price of the ads. You make more money than the contextual ads.
6. Selling your own product
You are the advertiser of your own products that you may have. You do not need to pay advertiser to do that. What you have to do is to drive the readers to your site and persuade them to buy your products. That is all to it!
