1- Target a large crowd of people or communities

First you need to do research on your intended market. 5-feedback score

Have you wonder why you are doing internet business?

I too thought that I blog for making some money.  But now I change my direction and my vision accordingly.  I do not think it is the foremost important anymore.

I write this blog to tell you why there are two groups of people: one group is money magnet and another one is money chaser.

I will analyze these two groups here.  You will find out why one group of people  makes a lot of money and the other one makes a little of money or none.

I will not say that one group is right or wrong, but I will explain why one group is very happy and fulfill its purpose in life.  Do not get me wrong.  You have your freedom to choose your own path.  You can follow one group of people with money magnet or a group of people that is chasing money.

Let’s talk about the group of people that is  money magnet.

Why they are money magnet?

They have a unique ability that comes out of their strengths.  The strengths here do not mean the muscle power that you might think.  The strengths here are their talent, skills, and knowledge.  The talent is the innate from birth.  Skills are steps of activities.  The knowledge is the learn subject from school, reading, etc…

They create and provide value to a community where they can enjoy  doing what they like to do with the best ability.   In returns, they get pay according to the creation of value.

They have fulfill their mission in life.  They find their happiness and dream in life.

They have the entrepreneurial spirit and mind set.  They discipline themselves, focus, and commitment to their vision.

The money is not in their goal or vision.  It is just a byproduct from their strengths.  So what is your unique ability?  Find it out by doing your inventory.  You can go through it by taking the Strength Finder 2.0 assessment.

Money Chaser Group

This group is the opposite from the money magnet group.   This group thinks about how to make money all the time.  For example, when this group blogs, they would always think about how to monetize.

That is the wrong mentality. When blogging, they should think the following process.  First, think about how to make your blog attract the visitors or readers attention.

Next, get their permission.  This is where they should get the opt-in from their visitors.

Then, they should engage with them by having a two -way communication.  The group should serve them what they want and hear.

From there the group needs to build a relationship that is very important for blogging.  This is a relationship that the readers or visitors think the group is very genuine, and trust worthy.

Influence is the next step where the group establish itself as authoritative figure.    The readers or visitors would follow the group advice.

Last the group can tell their readers to take action where they buy the products that the group recommends.

This is the funnel that the money chasing group should use, instead of thinking about making money without building a relationship.

The rest the money chaser group is doing the opposite to the money magnet group and wonder why they do not make a ton of money as the other group.

You are the judge and jury of this scenario that I present here.  And choose your path for your mission in life.

As you know a domain name with good keyword can bring you a lot of traffic and more traffic translates into more money.  A domain that went through a multiple owners may have a bad history.   You might have gotten a domain name with bad history from auction.  And bad history affect your domain in the future.

If you buy a domain with objectionable or questionable history for some affiliate marketing programs — notably eBay through their eBay Partners Network — you could endanger your affiliate account. I know for a fact if a domain has been associated with an Ebay Partnership Network (EPN) account that was terminated or banned, you’ll probably have your EPN account at risk buying and using the domain. So in that one case in particular, it would be good to consider the domain’s history.

How bad can it be?

Well, it can cause huge bookmarking sites like Digg, Reddit & Mixx tagged the site as being “invalid”.  It affects your ability to promote your site.  You also have to spend your countless hours and energy to revive it.

So if you know that your domain name had one time was used for a domain name that used for a “bad neighborhood” type of site.  Here are my suggestions.

Rehabilitating: First go to Google Webmaster Tools and on the left column is a place to ask for “Site reconsideration”.  You will be asked about why this site should be reincluded in the index and tell them that you are the new owner of the site and know that it came from a previous owner that used it for spamming or non-legit content. Ask them to reinclude it in the index and that you are interested in developing it into a great site as a resource, etc. for what ever your domain/use is for.  Also just make sure you don’t have any contextual ads, such as Google Adsense or Amazon ads, on it because they will see that.

Patience: You have to be patience because it may take 48 hours or a week to get your domain shown up in the index because of their workload.

How to avoid getting the domain with bad history in the first place

Do your due diligence before buying your domain from auction sites.  To see if the domain is registered,  use a WHOIS tool.  And use a service like the Wayback Machine to check its history. If that domain has been banned by major search engines due to whatever reasons, don’t bother to buy it. Do not waste your time to building up its reputation.

4-Product development: If you are a product development person kind of guy, look for a site that’s got good traffic and targeted keyword rankings, but is only ticking over a small about of AdSense revenue. There could be a good opportunity for you to make a product suited to the audience.

5-Website investor: If you have access to a team of people that can do all or most of the above, find sites with solid monthly revenue and continue to build the online business. Upgrade it to it fullest potential.

Find out how the competition is like in the search results.  If the site is targeted at particular keywords, but it is not already ranking well, you are better find out how hard is it going to be to rank for those keywords. Also take a look at the SEOQuake Firefox plugin.

• Google Analytics report: Request for  Google Analytics report, especially a video walk through showing revenue statements.

• History: Use Wayback Machine to see the history of the site. Make sure you’re not buying something with a dark past!

• Backlink: Use SEOmoz’s Open Site Explorer, a great tool for checking out the quality of a website’s backlinks, to check the backlink profile.

• Transfer process: Ask the seller how the site will be transferred to your hosting account.  You want to make sure if you are going to manage the transfer or the seller will help you.

• Site Design: If the site your purchasing doesn’t use an open source CMS, ask the seller what provision there is for support.  And try to verify ownership by crosschecking the result from Whois against some proof of ID.

• Traffic: Find out where the traffic is coming from.  You want to make sure you know if the if most of the traffic is PPC or if it’s coming from other websites the seller owns.

• Trademark: To Check for trademark infringement on the domain name, use uspto for an initial check.  Make sure you do a very thorough trademark check if Wayback Machine suggests the site was owned by someone in the past.

• Content: Use Copyscape to check content and make sure it is original.

• Contract: If you are dealing with a significant level of risk, consider getting the lawyers drawn up a contract of sale.

• Profit: Make sure the site does have a history of regular profits or do not buy it.  It’s very difficult to make money with a new site than most sellers will have you believe. If you’re new to buying a blog or site,  restrict your purchasing to a site that’s got a proven business model.

• Claims of potential: Don’t trust claims of claims of “potential”. And don’t take the seller’s opinion on anything.  It’s a business decision.  Get the facts, not a glossed up version of them.
