You may know that Google already setup the algorithm on how the way you are assigned the page ranking of your site.  Some people would say that your page ranking has a lot of influences on Google search engine.  Is there a relationship between the page ranking and the search engine ranking?

You and I love to have a lot of traffic to our site because you want to share the internet surfers or your readers what you know so that they would learn something useful from you.  Or you want to offer them your solution to their problem.  You  are the expert and authority in a certain subject.

As you all know that traffic means making or breaking business.  If there is no traffic, there is no business.  After having some traffic, we want to have some comment.  You want to engage in a conversation with our readers and want feed back how you are doing.  But how do you get traffic and comment on your blog?

Here are my few suggestions on how to get traffic.

Good design: You must have a unique and brandable website and have a great look and feel.  The great design can draw people’s attention because it has a first impression that your readers would find something cools you offer.  It is a one of a kind environment where they hope they find the solution to their problem.  Good design can also make people to observe around longer than a plain and simple site.

Valuable content: On top of the great design, your posts must have a unique and valuable content that the readers find them useful and informative.  Otherwise your loyal readers would not come back for more information.  On top of that, you would not find any unique visitors either.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO): If your blog is new, you have to submit it to major search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and MSN.  Moreover, your posts should have keyword rich content.  That way you do not have to spend a lot of effort to promote your site.

How do you get comment on your blog?

Content: Again it is imperative to have a good content in the first place in order to have your readers leave you comments.  They want to gain a benefit from your blog before they place their comment.  As you know, they want to have a backlink to their site after they learn a few tips from your blog content.

WP plugins: There are few plugins that can help you get more comments.  The most common ones that most bloggers use are “CommentLuv” and “Top Commentators widget”, “NoFollow Free”, and “CommentRelish”.

Placing comment on other blogs: It seems that commenting on other blog would bring traffic to your site, but remember to place useful comment or to provoke a meaningful discussion so that other readers would benefit from it.

You might know that “good content” is subjective and varies from one blogger to another.  Mostly, it depends on the readers needs.   That is from the readers perspective.  From the blogger perspective, you have to blog out of your passions, experiences, and knowledge, but is important you be aware of your readers.  Fairly obvious that a good content needs to be useful and unique to your readers.

What is useful content?

“Useful content” for me could be different from what it is to you.  However, it could be any of the following:

Entertainment: Blogs are being used as entertainment for some people.  Some of them are going to them for laughs, gossip, and fun conversation.  They want to break away from their boring activity.

Education: Some bloggers are serious about learning something that they are interested in a given topic.  They tend to explore the new environment.

Information: Many successful blogs are created on the thirst that some readers have to be informed on an issue, product, or topic.  This type of bloggers want to spread the information about what they to offer to fulfill the readers’ needs.

Debate: This is where the blog readers what to have a place that they can have a good old-fashioned dialogue, debate, or even a fight over an issue.

News: Some blog readers want to keep up with the current event on a topic.  They want to know what is going on up to the minute.

Community: People are social creature and have a desire to belong to something.  Most blogs tend to tap into this area and are all about connection people interested in exploring a topic.  Next to the topic is the actual relationship built on the blog.

What is unique content?

To have a unique content, you have to distinguish yourself in some way form what others are doing.  You need to focus on a slightly different topic and it could mean writing in a distinct voice.  For example, if everyone is writing about “hot topic”, you might want to write about, “opinion” type blog post.

The main idea here is to make your blog stand out of the crowds.  Some bloggers would not have any advertisement on their blog, not even Google adsense.  So bringing together the elements of both useful and unique content would give you an edge of one step closer to a successful blog.
