What is Latent Semantic Index?

Latent Semantic Indexing is a way to explain a complicated term in a very simple manner. The main idea behind Latent Semantic Indexing is to discover phrases or words and phrases that are related in any document or group of documents. In the internet marketing world,  people that use Search engines, do  Internet Marketing in their profession, and design Website  often use LSI in their day-to-day activities.   That is why it is important to use it for your arsenal.

On top of that, latent Semantic Indexing is the discovery process for finding related phrases and terms. LSI is like a folder that contains the related semantic related terms.  This folder  relies heavily on the context in which any given word is used. For example, If you use  the term “flat tire” in a document, some semantically related terms would be: car, vehicle, repair, tire pressure, wheel,  and lug nut wrench. You now see  the words  that are related to the term “flat tire”.

Why is that import?

For the internet marketers, they use it for SEO purposes and the goal is to have a good page range in Google.  It is boiled down just to please the big G.

How to use it?

Especially for the article marketing (bump marketing), you use the LSI in your article after you limit the keyword density between 2 to 5%.  It is kind of like the work around to convey your message across when sometimes you need to emphasize your keywords many times and you don’t want to have more keywords than 5%.

After spending a little time playing around the LSI Digger and LSI keywords website.  The site generates only 2 and 3 keyword groups.  It is not like the LSI digger where you can control the length of keywords you want.  It is flexible that you can have up to 5-keyword lengths.  However, the site shows where you can find those keywords.  The LSI digger tool is not designed to do that.  I also noticed that you can adjust “Preferences” to no more than 50%.  Otherwise, you will get no result at all. May be it is a flaw.

I know even though it is not the main focus for making money on the internet marketing, but it is related subject that you can NOT ignore.  When you have a wonderful product or service, you want to spread the word to the public so that they know what you have.  In another word, you need to bring eye balls to your site.  In order to have a lot of traffic to your site, I have found that there are a little trick that can make your site go viral. 

These two methods share the same ultimate goal—boost traffic to your site.  One of them takes a little more work on your part and costs you money.  You need to have Facebook and Tweeter account, plus a WordPress plugin.  You need to create the Facebook app and all of those stuff.

Whether you are an affiliate or Google Adsense publisher, you need to know about On-page optimization.  It is important because you need to have  your website page rank well on first page of Google. If you don’t, you won’t have a lot of free traffic.  When you don’t have a good traffic, you don’t make money with your site.  However, if you drive paid traffic to your site, no need to worry about on-page optimization, but it may not suitable for you if you’re a noobie.  Also if you have some money, you can outsource this task.  It largely depends on each person individually.

What is on-page optimization?

It is all about the factors that you can control on your site.  And they can affect your web page listing in natural search.  It is ranging from  the HTML code, meta tags, keyword, and keyword density, but some people would include Keyword Research and Analysis, implementation of 301 Permanent Redirect, submission of XML Sitemap, and other items as part of the optimization.  However, I am not going to get into more depth.  I am going to talk about the essential items that you need to know.  And you need  to continue learning SEO as you progress in your Internet business journey.

What can you do with the on-page?

1-You page  Title

    It is the most important keyword. The page title  preferably contain the keyword term/phrase as the first word(s) if you want to rank well.

2- Meta Description

Next, your page meta description should be brief and very concise description about content of your page and it should be a unique description.   The limit is 200 characters maximum.  It contributes to the search engine ranking and click-through rate (CTR). 

3- Meta keywords

    It is a short and precise list of the most important keywords of your page.  They are similar to  the tags in the blog format.  The meta keywords help your site rank well  in your specific keywords .

    Note:  When people talk about meta tags, they are usually referring to meta description and the meta keywords.

4-Uniform Resource Locator (URL)

Length

    The short URL tends to perform better, however you may not find the exactly short url contained the long tail keyword phrase unless you add a suffix or prefix to it.

Keyword location

    The target keyword(s) should be closer to the domain as much as possible.

5-Body tags

    Heading,_h1,h2,h3 keyword density

    Your keyword should not be less than 3% percent throughout the content.  Otherwise, the search engines, such as Google,  consider you stuff keyword.  And they may penalize your site.
 

   H1 headline

    It is very important tag for on-page optimization.

    h2,h3-they are even less important than the H1 tag and carry very little to SEO value.

   image file name

    It can have a big influence on the traffic because it is the source of your blog visit.  It is highly recommended you to use keyword as the name of image on your post.

    Bold

    It appears to carry a little SEO value.  However, it is the best practice to bold keyword or keyword phrase at least once in your post.

    Italic/emphasized

    I recommend you use these italic/emphasized in your blog post because they are surprisingly carry a little more correlation to the ranking than bold keyword.

To help you speed up the on-line optimization process, there is a plugin call SEO Pressor that provides you some sort of on-page optimization.  Here is a free one that is similar to a paid version.  It is clone version from Blogger High.  Check it out, you definitely find it very useful in term of doing on-page optimization.

Unless you live under the rocks, you probably heard all the times that the “Money is in the list”.  It can generate a passive income in  a short limited time, however it depends on how you build your list.  There are many ways to build your list.  It is ranging from giving away an ebook for an email address to joint venture.  Some are cost effective, but some would cost you a lot of money.  Let’s look at some forms of list buildings.

List Building: FREE Gift

You probably have received some email stating that “FREE Gift” for you as a promotion.  However, when you click the link, you land on a squeeze page which is a page where they squeeze you for your personal information—email address.  If you want the free ebook or other free materials, you need to enter your email address to exchange for the gift.  Even though they said it is FREE, actually it is not free at all. 

This list building process is taking time to build a targeted huge list for your internet marketing business.  To be effective, you must have a product which is very enticing for visitors or readers to click it.  Also you need to drive traffic to the page where you have a FREE gift.  You can drive traffic through ppc, free traffic, article marketing, guest post, forums,Worrier Sale Offer (WSO) etc..You can give good quality content, such as low cost reports, PLR, or low cost WSO products, say you sell it for 2 or 3 dollars.   Make sure you give out best-valued products or content that they can’t resist to enter their email in the opt-in box. That is the fundamental flaw, but it maybe targeted list. You may lose some money on the monthly auto responder fee.  This method it quicker to build for some people, but it is less profitable because you don’t know if they have the ability to pay.

List Building: Solo Ads

Solo Ads are similar to Free gift method, except you buy somebody’s list and send the traffic to it.  If is more effective if you know it is the targeted list of your niche. 

List Building: Ad swaps

As the name implies, you swap your list with other people’s list. you can start doing this Adswaps with very few subscribers to begin with. Some people love it, some people don’t. Try the Safe-Swaps.com see if it works for you.  At this moment they have $25 monthly fee, $129 for half year with one month free, and $249 for one year membership with one month free.

List Building: Joint Venture

This happens when you have a great product, but you don’t have a list.  You then look for a person who has a big list in your niche and talk to him or her to see if he or she want to do joint venture with you.  You can negotiate what percentage of profit you are going to share with the list owner.  You can work out on the deal.  Then you can build a list from this venture, but you must find a well known list owner to do it.

List Building: Giveaways Events

With a giveaway event, you submit a product to the event and send some people there through blog posts and newsletters..   If the people see value of your product and they like it, they would sign up to your list.  These events usually occur in the holidays, such as Thanksgiving.  You can a big list through this kind of Giveaway events.

List Building: Churn and Burn lists

Churn and burn lists are least profitable, because you give a lot of channels to drive people to squeeze page.  You have to send out a ton of emails daily. You may have to send two or three emails per day to each subscriber.  And your goal is to have them buy your product or unsubscribe from your list.  There are many people who are willing to buy.

After you have a good number of subscribers, make sure you build a good relationship with your list .  This is the important job because you have to consider them as your friends.  You can make an awesome of money if you have a targeted list.  That is why they said the Money is in the list.  Also make sure you have a good auto responder that you can do segment analysis.

I like to talk about this subject because I recently came across a book, The Story Factor by Annette Simmons.  It is one of many great books are worth mentioning.

Why is it so? It is because I found that having a story in a blog post very interesting when it connects to blog topic.  It communicates to your readers very well.  It has just the purpose you need.

It makes your readers remember the story well and does not need them to work harder to memorize it.  They can retell the story vividly.  They remember it longer because it made a mark to your brain.  It seems so real to them.  It is like the story teller was in their shoes and in the same time period.

You can use a story to make them take action, and persuade them to join your idea.  It can be a motivational tool that persuades them to make a donation for a good cause.  But the question is how a story does that.

It has a power that hooks them through getting inside of their brain.  Then it would connect with them in the level of humanity.  It expresses how they feel after reading story the first time.  If it is a great story, then it would grab their attention through a great bait.  What is a great bait you asked?

The great bait is a frame of view in such a way that it is like their story.  It is like the situation they are having.  And the story would bring the solution to problem or whatever it wants the reader like them to do.  It can be a lesson they want to follow and take action afterward.  Or it can make them pause to think wisely before making a wise decision or taking an action.  It brings the emotion on top of the feeling it may have.

You may say that it is a hypnotic method that the story teller employs.  It may be true because it is so powerful if the story contains the concrete picture.  Why you include a story in your blog, you wondered?

Education

First of all, your goal is to educate your readers.  A story does just that.  They can learn from the story.  They know when to apply what they learned to their real life situation.  The lesson is just another option they can have.

On top of that, a story can influence people to take action in its own way.  It can persuade your readers to buy your product.  This can happen after you show them the social proof, testimonial as your story.

Entertainment

Entertainment is another key you want them to stay and come back in the future  because they learn something from you while having fun at the same time.  It makes the blog more pleasant to read and interesting to find out while learning a new topic or tips.  A story can make them happy to make a conversation with you.


Last but not least, as a blogger you must learn how to create a great story to tell them or you just have a blog with no readership.

Remember a story can influence your readers in such way that you can not control the outcome.   Until then, use your story telling technique as much as you can in your blog and hopefully you would increase your readership quickly.

Have you wonder why you are doing internet business?

I too thought that I blog for making some money.  But now I change my direction and my vision accordingly.  I do not think it is the foremost important anymore.

I write this blog to tell you why there are two groups of people: one group is money magnet and another one is money chaser.

I will analyze these two groups here.  You will find out why one group of people  makes a lot of money and the other one makes a little of money or none.

I will not say that one group is right or wrong, but I will explain why one group is very happy and fulfill its purpose in life.  Do not get me wrong.  You have your freedom to choose your own path.  You can follow one group of people with money magnet or a group of people that is chasing money.

Let’s talk about the group of people that is  money magnet.

Why they are money magnet?

They have a unique ability that comes out of their strengths.  The strengths here do not mean the muscle power that you might think.  The strengths here are their talent, skills, and knowledge.  The talent is the innate from birth.  Skills are steps of activities.  The knowledge is the learn subject from school, reading, etc…

They create and provide value to a community where they can enjoy  doing what they like to do with the best ability.   In returns, they get pay according to the creation of value.

They have fulfill their mission in life.  They find their happiness and dream in life.

They have the entrepreneurial spirit and mind set.  They discipline themselves, focus, and commitment to their vision.

The money is not in their goal or vision.  It is just a byproduct from their strengths.  So what is your unique ability?  Find it out by doing your inventory.  You can go through it by taking the Strength Finder 2.0 assessment.

Money Chaser Group

This group is the opposite from the money magnet group.   This group thinks about how to make money all the time.  For example, when this group blogs, they would always think about how to monetize.

That is the wrong mentality. When blogging, they should think the following process.  First, think about how to make your blog attract the visitors or readers attention.

Next, get their permission.  This is where they should get the opt-in from their visitors.

Then, they should engage with them by having a two -way communication.  The group should serve them what they want and hear.

From there the group needs to build a relationship that is very important for blogging.  This is a relationship that the readers or visitors think the group is very genuine, and trust worthy.

Influence is the next step where the group establish itself as authoritative figure.    The readers or visitors would follow the group advice.

Last the group can tell their readers to take action where they buy the products that the group recommends.

This is the funnel that the money chasing group should use, instead of thinking about making money without building a relationship.

The rest the money chaser group is doing the opposite to the money magnet group and wonder why they do not make a ton of money as the other group.

You are the judge and jury of this scenario that I present here.  And choose your path for your mission in life.

What is Jing?

It is a powerful software by TechSmith.  It allows you to capture a screen shot, image out of your computer screen, and video screen shot of what you are doing and share it with the world.  Plus it has an additional feature that you can NOT compare with other software out there.  You can edit the image screen shot after you click and drag your mouse across the screen to where you want to capture your screen image.  You can add text, box, and arrow to target the point where you are talking about.  This is a great tool to express your thought clearly.  You do not have to spend more time to think what your correspondent is talking about and where it is.

Why is it important?

You can share your screen capture or video with your friends.  And most importantly, you can attach it to your email or upload it to YouTube.  If you are an internet marketer, you can use it to instruct your people overseas how to perform their tasks.  Remember that the video capture feature is designed for 5 minutes long only.

Where you can get your hand on Jing?

Go to http://www.techsmith.com/download/jing/ and click download link according to your computer, Window or Mac.  It would look for the Microsoft Net Framework version 3.5.  Then it would ask you to install it if your system does not have it.  In my experience, my computer did not have Net Framework 3.5 installed, but 2.0 version.  It did not complete the installation.  It popped up an error message.  If you do have the problem with the Net Framework, try the following suggestion on how to fix it.

In that case, you have to install Net Frame clean up tool. Click it and download and install it.  After that, install the Net Framework 3.5.  By then, you should have no problem with the Jin installation.  Do not install the latest version 4.0 because it is not what the Jing needs.
